Summer Slacking and Signs of Fall

Purple Cone Flower and Black-eyed Susan in Maine meadow

Life has just been so easy and blissful that I’ve forgotten to blog…  That and camping in several locations with no internet has put me way behind on telling our adventures.  I’ll do my best over the next few days to catch up to where we are.

We left Maine and are in Vermont now.  Two mornings ago it was 37 degrees when we woke up and 48 degrees inside our RV.  That is getting chilly!  For all our Texas friends and family that are still putting up with really hot weather, take heart, fall will come.  Not as soon as here in New England, but it is headed your way…

Early turning sugar maple

The leaves are still mostly green here, but a few rogue sugar maples are turning red.  On the hillsides there is just the faintest hint of gold in all the green.  Fallen leaves are beginning to show on the forest floor.  Fall is definitely in the air.  The prediction is that by the end of September much of the higher elevations in New England will be in peak color.  It won’t be long.  But for now, let’s go back to summer and Maine and I’ll catch you up.
